Everything's coming up salmon

This illustration was done using watercolour pencils, watercolour paint, gouache, and India ink.



Everywhere I turn these days, I seem to come across brown bears and salmon; whether it's Masakichi and Tonkichi in Haruki Murakami's short story Honey Pie or in a recent documentary I watched about brown bears paddling in the surf of Kamchatka. Lately, I feel like one of those salmon swimming upstream. Most days, it's a good feeling.
